it's beginning to look alot like christmas

hello everyone - long time no talk ! Lot's has been happening since last time I posted here.

So, christmas is less than 1 month away and I thought that this would be a perfect time to share with you my christmas wish-list. Now, i'm not expecting to get all of these gifts , but I thought it would be helpful also to the people that don't really know what they want and need some ideas !

1 // DSLR CAMERA - i've had my eye on the Nikon D5500 for a while now, as well as some other cannon DSLRS ( specifically the EOS 1200d ). At the moment I usually borrow my family friends DSLR camera but would love one of my own. I would also love to start making videos and taking better quality photos, and I think having my own DSLR would really help me to do that.

2 // BLACK ARIZONA BIRKENSTOCK SANDALS - I've lived in Birkenstock sandals ever since I got my first pair when I was about 5. They are such comfortable shoes, but my old pair are way to small for me now, so I think its about time to get a new pair. I love these black ones as they are super simple and can go with every outfit. Perfect for summer coming up too !

3 // AESOP  RESURRECTION AROMATIQUE HAND BALM - this hand cream from one of my all time skincare brands, Aesop, has been on my wish-list for a very long time. I have the green one although i'm not the biggest fan of the scent ( quite a masculine scent, got it mainly for the looks, which was a very bad idea now thinking about it. I hardly use it too !! ). I tried the pink resurrection aromatique hand balm in the Aesop store in Melbourne a few weeks ago and could not stop saying to my friend how much I love the scent, feel and of course the look of the minimalistic packaging.

4 // ROSE GOLD + BLACK MIMCO PURSE - i've been in need for a new purse for a while now, and I absolutely LOVE this one from Mimco. Perfect for going out as I can fit my phone, cards and money in the one.

5 //  IKEA OFELIA WHITE THROW BLANKET - This super soft, fluffy blanket would look perfect on my bed. Super simple and goes with all decor around the year without it clashing with art prints and bed covers. I looked at this blanket at Ikea when I was last there, and now I really wished I bought it.

6 // GORMAN GIFTCARD - Gorman. My favourite shop in the whole entire world. Expensive, but in my opinion, SO TOTALLY WORTH EVERY SINGLE DOLLAR. I especially need a Gorman raincoat, so if i am really lucky this christmas, I would love to get one.

7// H&M GREY LINEN BED COVER - I love this bed cover so much !! Getting a linen bed cover has been up on the top things I want to do, but I haven't gotten around to it. I've latley started to make my room look minimalistic, and I think this bed cover would make all the difference.

And yes, i've realised that i've been a bit absent from blogging for the past month or so.  I've been so caught up in studying and working on other school things rather than taking photos and writing here like I wish I had been. i've really, really missed it. I've updated the look of the blog a bit to get me a little more excited about getting back into it again. I've also added a bit more info on my "about " page and added an archive page for easy reading !

love to you all,

september / october favourites - clothes, beauty, artists & music

I feel like it's been forever since i've sat down and really had a one on one chat with you all. How are you all going? what have you been up to?

So the holidays have officially and sadly ended. These 2 weeks have been super packed. Saw a bunch of friends, went to the movies, shopped till my purse started crying ( like literally ). Re- arranged my room, camped out for 3 days in the backyard at one of my friends house's, went to way too many restaurants and cafes, did some bike riding as well as tackled the huge pile of homework I had to get done some time or another. Finished off the 2 weeks with a full day of blog planning and now I'm sadly writing and trying to procrastinate out of doing my English work. Fun times.

Anyway, I thought that I would show you a few things i've been loving lately. Over these past few months i've really been eager to change up my style and start fresh. I've really been into a lot more neutral colours, minimalistic styles as well as pretty much everything, from music, clothing and interiors from the 60's.

artist Interview 01 - Rachel Burke (@Imakestagram)

Hello you lovely people!

Today I have an interview with a very special guest on thegretaedit , Rachel Burke from " I make you wear it". Rachel is a designer, stylist and photographer from Brisbane, Australia.

I have not done an interview in so long that I thought it was just as appropriate to bring in a super inspiring woman into the world of my blog. Enjoy!

1. Hello Rachel, welcome to "Hello Greta" blog, tell us a little bit about yourself:
Hi There!  I am a clothing designer, stylist and textile artist.

2. the most interesting experience that has happened because of being a designer is/was…
I find the whole process of travelling overseas to source fabrics/trimmings/supplies to be super interesting and eye opening!

 3. Who/what inspires you?

I tend to find inspiration in conventionally boring or mundane things.  I love $2 shops as they allow my visions to become a reality without breaking the bank...and as such, I draw a lot of inspiration from them.

  4.  5 facts about you…

1. I have 2 sausage dogs

2. My hair is not naturally orange (shock!)

3. I drink Hot Water, and love it.

4. I love horror movies.

5.I make a good pom pom.

5. Describe your personal style.

My personal style is all about bright colours, prints, and cutie fit and flare styles.

6. What is the hardest thing about being a designer?

Balancing the books! Filing receipts! Tax...all the business stuff can be super boring and tricky so I always leave it to the last minute...and this always comes back to haunt me!

7. What would you say to budding designers?

Try not to get too bogged down in what everyone else is doing.  Make what YOU love and not what is necessarily the flavour of the moment.

 8.  When did you know you wanted to be a Textile Artist?

There wasn't a precise moment, it just sort of happened.  I have always been in love with certain textiles, but I guess the whole 'artist' side of things came about when I began attributing greater meaning/depth to the textile creations I was making.  My project Apomogy has been at the forefront of this shift.

9. Currently obsessed with?
Ceramics!  I have started classes and am learning to use a wheel. Total H.E.A.V.E.N

10. Top 5 crafting tools?

I keep things pretty simple.  My favs are:

1. Hot Glue Gun

2. Scissors

3. Stapler

4. Hole Puncher

5. Pom Pom making template
