Oh hey there !
If you know me, you will know I love colour... and especially fun patterns and quirky scenes incorporated in art. That's when I came across Naoshi Sunae, an amazing and inspiring artist living in Los Angeles but originally from the wonderful land of Japan. Her style is absolutely to DIE FOR and always makes me so unbelievably happy!
I was luckily enough to be able to interview her for my blog, so here you are!
who / what inspires you ?
I always get inspiration from my feeling and my favorite things around my every day life, such as my favorite desserts, sunny side up eggs and nature, etc… My art is the reflection of my imagination. I usually get ideas and start sketching when I imagine surreal things and have a moment like "Ah, the whole scenery would be funnier if those things looked like this!"
5 facts about you ?
- I'm Japanese SUNAE (Sand Art) Artist
- I love pop rock & dance music
- I love manga (Japanese comics)
- I love Japanese comedy
- I love all kinds of sweets, especially chocolate !
describe your art style ?
I love using bright colors of sand. I create cute, funny and strange characters that live in pop and surreal worlds!!!
what is the hardest thing about your job?
I feel like the hardest thing of SUNAE is the technique, specially when I make tiny pieces for my art because I have to cut everything using by design cutter.
what is your favourite thing to draw / use / incorporate into your artwork?
I enjoy using sand and sprinking it on my artwork! I always have fun making different colorful sand from the white board.
