Reviewing my most recent roll of 35mm film

Oh hey ! I'm back !

Life has been good and EXTREMELY busy in the last couple of months. I've just started back at school for another hectic semester, and have just started my new subjects (Vis-com & Photography to name a few!). They all feel so right and have me so excited for what I will be able to learn and the experiences I will be able to get out of them. I've been spending too much money on cafe food and too much time sleeping in and enjoying my new ROOM. Yes ! You heard that correctly ! After 6 long years with a dark purple wall, I finally painted all my walls white, got some all new brand spanking furniture, and I splurged on a unbelievably beautiful blush pink linen bed cover. Good times for sure !

Anyway, let's get into what today's post is all about ...

Back in March, I was generously given a Minolta SRT 101 film camera from my Grandpa to play around with. Before then, I surprisingly had never shot on film (other than on my refurbished Polaroid Camera) which is absolutely CRAZY thinking back at it now as shooting on film has quickly become one of my favourite ways to photograph my life and the things around me.

After shooting for a total of 4 months, I recently got around to developing my first roll. I was absolutely terrified as to how the photos would turn out, but to my surprise, they weren't even  T H A T  bad. I know, what a miracle.

And these are the results ! Being my first roll ever, I am actually quite happy with it. Obviously, not all the photos that I took worked out in my favour, and making sure that I had set the correct exposure and aperture deemed a little difficult at times. This is probably down to the fact that the camera is 30+ years old, doesn't have a working light metre and my lack of experience with this medium.

Anyway, here are 12 out of the 36 photos from the roll - I would show you more but a few are of family and others simply didn't work out.  Some are blurry, and some have pretty wacky lighting, but I really do love that about film photography - even the photos that don't have what most would consider as "good" lighting, usually end up having the most character, and end up being my favourite photos.

*All photos were shot on a Minolta SRT 101, with AGFA VISTA 400 film

So there you go ! I can't wait to shoot more on film, continue to learn more about how I can improve my skills, and take even better photos in the future to come.

I hope this has inspired you all to branch out from taking photos on digital cameras and to have a crack at film photography, or even rekindle your passion for it. Also, let me know if you all like this type of photography content because I would love to make sharing my film photos and various experiences with this medium more common on my blog.

Till next time,

Right Now - March

My loves! It has been a really long time. In all honesty, i've been stuck in a big black hole full of school & work, that I haven't had much time to create much content for this space. My poor blog looks quite blue and abandoned but I promise, I'm always thinking about it.

So, how have you all been? I've really been quite great, thanks for asking. I thought I'd do a catch-up post to get you all updated on what's happening in my life at the moment, behind the screen.

Life has definetly been keeping me super busy. In the times where I'm not almost falling asleep over a desk doing a million maths equations at school, you would most often find me working on my studio art portfolio, making what probably would be my 5th cup of tea for the day, and/or cooking in the kitchen while jamming out to my favourite tunes (more on the topic of music a bit later on). My new job has also been keeping me very occupied as I've had to wake up for work most Saturday mornings at ridiculously early hours, but hey, that's life for you.

Everything about Film Photography ! I recently picked up a Holga 120 CFN, and was given my Grandpa's old film camera ( a Minolta SRT 101) to play around with. I've always been interested in film photography, but I have never gotten around to getting a camera, and buying the film. (Ok, I haven't bought film yet, that's for next week's adventure). My Hogla takes 120mm film, and the Minolta is 35mm which is great, as I will be able to experience shooting with a more simple "point and shoot" camera, and a more complex SLR camera. I'm planning to pick up some rolls of film before the Easter holidays start so I can have lots of time to have fun and experiment with this new medium. Overall, I'm very excited to be doing more photography these days !

Despite the fact that every day I’m scrolling through Spotify, be it on the way home after a long day, or through a speaker whilst cleaning up, I often forget to properly share it on here because it’s as regular and normal to me as brushing my hair or working at my desk.

I often make playlists each month, so if your in need of some new tunes to listen to, i've got you covered.

Loads and loads of Youtube! I've been really interested in Health & Nutrition as of now, and I've also been trying to limit my meat intake. I was having a little trouble with it all, up until I found Madeline Olivia on Youtube. Her videos are so helpful as she has made so many recipe videos on making vegetarian & vegan meals that are not only healthy, convenient and cheap, but also TASTY. I love how she also talks a lot about self care, mindfulness and healthy habits - something that I think we can all do more of and work on once and a while.

I also can't help but mentioning my current love for Rupaul's Drag Race, Season 10. There's something about the drag life & drama on this show that always seems to keep me hooked !

I recently was in desperate need for a new backpack for school, so after quite a few recommendations and quite a few hours researching online, I settled with a Fjallraven Kanken. It's been about 2 weeks since I first started using it, and I can happily say that it's probably one of the best purchaces I've ever made. The backpack is so practical for carrying my school books, as a daily bag and for traveling.

So yes, there’s a little life update from yours truly. The first term for 2018 has finally ended, which means Easter holidays are just around the corner - thank god. I have a heap of exciting events & a short weekend trip planned so I can't wait to share more of what's going on in my crazy, whirlwind of a life.

Hey there ! I need a bit of help.

One thing I’ve been finding myself thinking about recently is giving this space an update. Okay, so maybe not a FULL update in terms of looks, as that sounds far too impulsive and unnecessary ( I've changed the look of this space a lot this year ! ), but a bit of a new feel in terms of the content I share with you all.

I have lots of ideas for what I'd like to see this space turning into next year, but what really matters to me is what you’d like to see - but that doesn't mean that I will be sacrificing what I really want to continue creating either. I’ve never done anything like this, or any kind of questionnaire, but I'm hoping that by getting your feedback, It will give me that little extra information to make this space a place where you'll find yourself coming back & back to!

So, I’ve popped a little questionnaire below with a few questions and it would mean the world if you could help me out. I want to make this space friendly for everyone - whether you’re here for a quick look for fashion inspiration, music recommendations, or just curious about what I've been up to. Please do let me know!

Also, this is it for Greta Josephine for 2017 - what a year it's been !

I'm wishing you all a very merry Christmas & a truly happy new year. I'll be back with some fresh content in the first week of Jan !

So here we are. End of November, how crazy.

Christmas time is less than 1 month away, so I thought that this would be a perfect time to share with you my christmas wish-list. It was beyond fun to put together. Hopefully it’ll give you a little bit of Christmas inspo too!

I'm quite a festive person dring this time of year, so you all can guess that all I've been listening to for the past few weeks is Christmas songs (bring on the Michael Bublé and Mariah Carey, am I right ?). I also have been creating a new Christmas playlist, which is linked below. Perfect for any time of the day, with a few jazzy, folk, but mostly classic Christmas tunes.

Bring on the Christmas festivities!
